Dwarf flame gourami bubble nest

Both of my gouramies are making bubble nests, one on each side of the aquarium, does this mean they are both male or both female? Who makes the nest? Do they make a nest even if they don't have a mate? (The blue gourami in the first pic is not the one making the nest)

I think it's only the males that make nests.

In general, only males make nests. However, I do know some dg keepers who say they have seen females do it too. Female dg are not very common in the aquarium trade. The one in the second picture is a male for sure.

I think one LFS in my state sells female dgs. I would get them but they are expensive.

Am I the only one who has female DG ? Anyways they will still make one with or without a female. Even when they make one with a female in the tank it doesn't always work out.

Keep an eye on them as well as I had 2 of then and all they did was fight with each other !

Mine do all sorts of 'dances' but they don't chase each other or hurt each other. I would get a female if I could find one. I LOVE my gouramies!
