So this is my first time treating the disease Ich. I am rather green to fish keeping, and unfortunately I did not catch the disease in time for 4 of my fish as they all did not make it shortly after my first treatment.
I am using the Ick Guard Tablets from Tetra.....

I removed the filters from the filtration system and did a 25% water change today, just before I started treatment number two.

My questions are:

How do I know if the Ich has been cured? (none of my fish in the tank are showing any signs of the disease)

How long should I wait to the filters back in the filtration system?

Should I do a large water change before adding the filtration media back in? 50-70%?)

Is there any other suggestions or tips when adding media back to filtration or just in general?

thanks

After the second treatment, 50% WC, put filter media back, raise the water temp. To 84-86 degrees. A 20% WC every other day for ten days. Thoroughly vac the gravel each WC. Hope this helps.

I followed the directions on the package. I recently (2 weeks ago) treated a Betta but I used the Kordon Rapid Cure in a hospital tank because my first product didn't seem to get rid of all the specks on his fins. I've had success with the Tetra Lifeguard product in the past with other Bettas but this time they seemed a little tougher to kill. Everywhere I've seen comments on treating this says to raise the heat to quicken the cycle, so I don't know if you did that or not. I usually figure once the spots are gone on my fish then it's gone but make sure you follow the packages directions for the proper time. When I finished the recommended treatment I did a water change of around 25-30% then added carbon to my filter, when I used this type of filter. If not (I use sponge now) then I changed about 50% of the water. Hope this helps or if someone else has any other suggestions that they post them.
