Fishless cycling

I accidentally dosed our tank to 8. Is it ok or should I dilute to 4?

Water change time! A dose that high will kill off your good bacteria & keep your tank from cycling. A 50% wc should drop it down to 4 unless you really OD'd on the ammonia (the test only reads up to 8-it may be higher than 8). I would change more than 50% to be safe because you can always add a bit more back in.
