Did getting the water quality under control and getting the tank cycled help with your initial concern about your glo-danio?

The one my initial post was about died within a day later. He was already on his way out :( The rest of the glo danios look much better than they did before and are much happier and more energetic.

Water is testing at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 5 ppm nitrates. Anything I should do to get nitrates down, or just let it run it’s course?

NitrAtes, are safe in that range for most commonly seen community fish, and tolerable for many fish to around 30, and up to 40 maybe can do some water changes. Breeding fish and some sensitive / delicate fish, and keeping inverts like dwarf shrimp, keeping it low is good.

Ideally you have plants and they will use them too. Many opinions about which numbers to keep it at.

With plants, and CO2 some people need to actually dose nitrate for plants.

Fish do not need nitrates. Having low nitrates is good.
