I have had a saltwater tank for years. It has gravel instead of sand.
I am now converting the tank to a live tank. I have the high powered
light and live rock, etc. How important is it that I change the gravel to sand? Can i take out some of the gravel and put sand on top or should
I get it all out?

I would replace the gravel slowly. If you add sand, the gravel will end up on the top anyways. If you really like the gravel and are not having problems, you can keep it. Personally, I like sand.

I agree with roka. If you like gravel stay with it but it if you want to completely remove it I would do a little at a time. But depending an what type of gravel you have it can get messy with the transfer of gravel to sand... JMO
