Hey guys!

I just noticed my decoration rock is growing strings of algae(i think that's what it might be).
I'm not sure what it is exactly.
Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks guys!

Hard to tell from the pic... I'm no algae expert either. It kinda looks like hair algae, but it also kind of looks like it has leaves in it?

I'm sorry I couldn't get a better picture but yes I believe it might be algae hairs.
Is this harmful to the fish or tank?
Thanks for the help

It's not really something you want in your tank and it appears to be hair algae. How long do you leave your lights on daily? Also how often do you do WC's and how much do you change weekly? Do you know your nitrate and possibly phosphate readings? All these questions will help determine what is causing the algae so it can be remidied.

Hair algae can also be spot treated with Flourish Excel.
