ok, so I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong with my orchid dotty back (she has a white-ish patch on her nose)

...I'm reading some fish disease identification guides and one says a symptom of a bacterial infection is "stringy, white feces." I'm assuming healthy fish feces is darker in color? and are there any fish that normally have white feces? I ask because I think I saw white feces coming out of my orchid dottyback last night...

thanks!

It depends on what you feed the fish. The color going in should be the same or similar coming out. If feeding items like mysis or other light pink/whitish foods, they will be the same coming out.

Dark going in and white coming out would indicate the possibility of an iternal parasite or bacterial problem. It would be for the most part unrelated to the spot on the nose.

Cheers
Steve
