Growing Moss on Rocks

I know I made another post about growing moss on things but I found some slate rocks that I think could work for a moss carpet but I wanted to make sure the moss with actually grow to it before I do anything. Would this work?

If this is aquatic moss, then you can use fishing line to tie it to the slate. Different mosses will have different growth patterns; some upwards, some sideways.
