heating ponds?

Ive seen plecs in indoor tanks with sturgeon and other pond fish for sale in pet shops. I understand that you cant keep the plecs in outdoor ponds because the winter months and cold nights but obviously the other fish adjust to the heated water.

Can u heat a pond easily? Is it expensive? Can u just do it for the cold months? Would a small solar pannel power one? Just a few questions i had in mind but any information would be apprciated id love to have a large plec.

The pond heaters we have at work are 1,200w units and they arent meant for truly heating the water, its meant for preventing freeze over.. So id have to say that a small solar panel prob wont be sufficient enough to power a pond deicer or heater

You could always run a few 1000w aquarium heaters to it
