I hear of folks ordering fish to be shipped to their homes. How is this done? I am paranoid having the fish in bags for a 20 minute ride home from the LFS. How in the world can they be shipped from far away places and survive?

Here's a great article a member on here wrote about shipping fish. Her and her Husband sell fish and I've never had a problem getting them shipped to me.

Fascinating... Just simple Priority Mail! I would think that they would starve themselves of dissolved oxygen in 1/2 a day, even if oxygen gas were pumped into the bag prior to tying them up.

Well, I might just try that sometime. My LFSes have a weak selection of African Cichlids.

The key is to use a lot of air. It's a bit trickier shipping larger fish as they need more water volume and air. Breather bags are nice also but not for anything with remotely sharp fins.
