how deep sand for weather loaches

setting up a 55gall. tank with a focus on weather / dojo loaches. i have 60 lb.s of
instant aquarium sandd and 20 lb of eco complete for a planted area. Is that too little or too much ??

I have about 4 inches of sand for mine. It might be too much, but they are happy which is what matters. All you can see in the mornings are their little wiskered mouths poking out. By afternoon, they're out and about, then come evening, back to hiding under the sand.
