E.X. my 29 gallon used about 25lbs of sand. But that's only because I didn't want too much.

I bought my sand for $3-4(50lb bag) at lowes and its really good...
Some people have white play sand , but i did not see white play sand when i went to buy the sand...

why wouldnt i like buying from them? lol do they have a bad rep? & if u needed 80lbs for a 55g then ill need 100+lbs??

Some people have their preferences on retailers. I didn't want to sound like I was plugging for a company.

I used 80 pounds in a 55 because I like to make mounds, valleys, inclines and such. I prefer that look with plants and driftwood.

If you wanted just flat gravel, you can do the 1pound per gallon rule of thumb.

The CaribSea brand is packed wet in the bags, it doesn't get rinsed. I used it on my 55 and just ordered 40lbs more for a 29 tank.

In a 90, I think five bags of that would give you the inch thick you want. If I was ordering, I'd get 7-8 bags for my style of tank and maybe have a bit left over.
