Answer these Qs to ensure we have as much information as possible about your ailing fish and its environment:
1~What type of fish is afflicted? In addition, please describe what is wrong with the fish to the best of your ability (i.e. cotton like growth, bloated, etc.): She's hovering below her cave and making weird, jerky movements that barely move her across the water. Note that I don't have a heater yet.
2~What are your tank parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, temp, pH)? Please give exact values.: Not sure about these levels, how do you check?
3~ How large is the tank? How long has the tank been set up?: 20 gallons, for two days.
4~What type of filtration are you using? None yet, but I'm about to head out and buy what I'll be needing.
5~How many fish are in the tank?: Just her.
6~When is the last time you did a water change?: Two days ago, when I put her into the tank.
7~How long have you had the fish?: Two days, I adopted it from my friend.
8~Have you added anything new to the tank: A well washed ping pong ball and "fish cave"
9~Food: I've been feeding her pellets (three times a day with one pellet per feeding)
