Lighting for soft corals

I want to know the requirements to keep soft corals.

I currently have the innovative marine 18" skkye light dimmable dual strip.

Is this sufficient or not?

No,not sufficient you only have 9 watts of white and 9 watts of blue lights....What size tank do you have???

It depends on what kind of soft coral are you referring at. For filter feeders you do not need a high intensity light. If you plan to have anemone or any corals that relies on photosynthesis for food then you need a high intensity LEDs. That one may work but it will not allow you to extend it above your tank.

There are several threads that discuss the general lighting requirements that corals require. Simply throwing out a general question without looking for an answer prob isnt the best way to approach this. Also you donthave to buy "high intensity" leds as stated. Depending on some variables, you could run anything from metal halides to t5 to leds.

It is a 30g fowlr.

I am already using the light and asking if I need to upgrade or not.

So I could keep some filter feeders but not corals that use photosynthesis with my current light?
