need help understanding co2 for planted tank

hello everyone,

i have a co2 dyi i just bought for my smaller tank 40 gal and i have plants but i don't understand really what I'm dong with the diffuser at all. Are the bubbles supposed to be going to the top and popping or should the be staying in and around the tank?? i saw online people saying they need to stay in the tank not bubble to the top like a air pump would.

any advice please i dont want to waste my time doing the dyi co2 if i won't even be doing it right

You want them to stay in the tank as long as possible but in the end they will rise and pop. I put my co2 under my power head or in front of the current to blow the co2 all around the tank.

1) Place diffuser as deep in the tank as you can.
2) Place it under some current so as to blow the bubbles around = More time to dissolve into water.
3) Reduce surface agitation slightly, a gentle ripple along the surface is all that is needed.

Do you have a video / picture of the diffuser?

What filter are you running?
Do you have any power heads or circulation pumps in the tank?
