New eggs

I just noticed that my pair of clowns seems to have mated. When I bought them they were the same size, one outgrew the other and I guess she became the female. Well, yesterday she was fidgiting around the anenome and I saw an orange growth. Well today the male was fidgiting at those same eggs.

What am I to do, in the tank I have a Hippo tang, scooter, Six line & coral beauty. Are they destined for a quick death as food?

Free food....... Unless you have another tank to set up and a place to get live food for the babies.... Its a lot of work from what I have heard.

I would go straight to the book stores (online or in your neighborhood) and try and find books specific on tank breeding clowns. Even if you lose this first brood, they will likely try again and perhaps you'll be better prepaird the next time. But I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

You can move the eggs to a well aerated 5-10 gal tank, or you can try to leave them to hatch. They hatch on around the 8th day ( when their eyes turn silver) about 2 hours after the lights are out. You can shine a torch from the top to attract the larvae and siphon/scoop them into a small larval rearing tank. You will notice that the male, and often the female, spend alot of time aerating the eggs with their fins. So they cant be moved anywhere too soon. ( make sure if you decide to move the eggs make sure they dont come out of the water at any time!!!)

Don't get me wrong it would be cool to have them hatch, it's just having every thing in place is hard when you only have a few days to get it set up. QS has a good idea read up and get ready for the next time.
I can't wait for my clowns to start mating, I am going to take a shot at keeping them.
