Aquarium Advice Newbie
I just registered today and I had some questions. My only tank is a 65 gallon hexagon with 6 goldfish and one baby Koi, along with two Amazon sword plants and one that looks like a big tall vine. I know it may seem that it is over stocked but during the summer and spring we put the goldies outside in a 160 gallon pond in our backyard. On Saturday we are going to a big fish store to pick up 3 Hillstream Loaches to help with algae and to keep the tank cycled during spring and summer. we also have a 3 gallon quarantine tank that we will keep them in for about a week. There isn’t much information out there about hillstream loaches and I wanted to ask some of you about them.
1. Is it okay that I have them on a smooth gravel?
2. Is it fine for them to live with my goldies for 3 months of the year?
3. I have goldfish food, algae wafers, and lots of algae, can they live off of that?
