problems with Gunk

my bio filters are all bunked up not allowing the water to follow properly
how to clean w/out bio-filter getting wrecked or losing bacteria build up

I get a big bowl of water from the tank and slosh everything around in that until mostly everything is off. There have been times where it was so bad that I had to run it under water. I never had a problem doing it that way either even though I probably shouldn't have

thank you now my last 5gal I wash everything in that bucket. tap water is no good sent my other tank into a bacteria boom.

Rinse your bucket with tap water or your filter with tap water? Sorry, I'm not sure which you're talking about

Never use tap water to clean anything in your aquarium! Your beneficial bacteria will die off from the chlorine Nd you will be put into a mini cycle!

Just clean it while your doing a waterchange and swish it around a bucket of tank water.
