Protien skimmer settings and preference

I was messin around and turned the skimmer up all the way, and water ran over the top, after adjusting back and forth I found a sweet spot maybe with good bubbles but not alot of water running over the top..Is it just prefrence on the adjustment, or the more the bubbles the better??I dont think I have had it up enough in the past as there was very seldom anything in the canister or what have you??

I am a little confused on my skimmer as well so I am interested to hear what people have to say.

It depends! Some folks like to skim wetter than others. If I skim wet my collection cup has a tendency to overflow, so I skim a bit drier. That means that I get a thick sludge buildup on the uptake tube. Lot's of fun when I remove it for cleaning.
