Will my freshwater figure eight puffer eat a large fiddler crab . I don't think so but gotta check

Yeah it will eat it. Crustaceans are a puffer's favorite meal.

Probably important to point out that Figure 8 puffers are brackish water fish, not freshwater... there are a few sources that state freshwater, but trust me, they are completely brackish water fish. A great website for puffers is The Puffer Forum • The Puffer Fish Care Community check under the "Pufferpedia" section and you can read about all types of puffer, including figure 8's. I would recommend setting him up to a brackish environment.
