Hey guys,

For some reason I cannot get my PH above 8.0. It seems almost stuck. I do water changes, add buffer and nothing. I added buffer yesterday and just checked it and it's still the same. Any ideas?

There is no reason to try to get it any higher. More than likely it's being held there by the amount of co2 in the air in your house. Seeing you live in NJ, it's very common for pH to drop a little in the winter in cold climate areas when the house is all closed up for the winter. Once it gets warmer and you open the doors and windows, the pH will most likely rise some.

also a open top will help some
a lot of us use plastic egg crate it can be found in lighting section at home depot or lowes
