Reverse osmosis?

I was given this free from a friend of a family, a hydrotech 1240 reverse osmosis system. She paid like $900 to installed then got a whole house filtration that came with another unit so she gave me this. Will this be provide good water for topping off my tank?

That will work fine. Depending on how much it was used, you may want to put fresh sediment and carbon block filters in it. They typically last 6-12 months. The RO membrane is good for 2 yrs or more depending on how much water was processed and the quality of the water that it processed.
