well i had a friend that had this flame gourami in his 75 gallon tank. he was getting beat up by this kissing gourami. so he called me and said take him or hes gonna die in his tank within the next 2 days. so i went to his house and he was hiding in a pirate ship all day. so i got him and put him in my tank. he lost tons a color but is doing pretty well. so 2 days later i believe i bought him a girlfriend and he wanted to mate with her when i put her in but no bubble nest. he just followed her and tried to curl around her. well its been 2 weeks now and today i see the back part of him looks like his scales are shedding i dont know what it could be. i do 40-50% water changes in my 56 gallon tank weekly. and have hiding places for him as well. so please help. here are the pics and please help me sex them so i know if i got a male and a female as well. thank you. the last 2 pics is me assuming that shes a female.

I can't see the shedding but since his fins are clamped I'm gonna assume dropsy and you mean that the scales are pine coning, try looking up dropsy.

Here's a better pic. The white piece on his top back fin. It's on both sides. Its like his scales are peeling off

Ok I took him from the community tank and put him in my 5gallon tank and taking a closer look it looks pretty bad. I think its fin rot by the looks of it. I see his spines showing from his top fin.

I think is Collumnaris
Change water
Vacuum gravel
Add aquarium salt
Treat with copper sulfate or antibiotic
Discontinue carbon filtration during treatment
Use Terramycin
For Fin Rot
Water change
Treat with antibiotics
Addition of aquarium salt
MelaFix

That white spot on his body was grey when I got him from my buddy. But now after 2 weeks it was peeling. But yesterday it started to look fuzzy now. i did a 50% water change in the hospital tank.then I bought some aquarium salt. Mixed a heaping tablespoon with Some aquarium water in a cup and slowly poured it in over the course of 3 hours. And also 2.5 ml of melafix. And planning to treat over the next 7 days. I might buy pimafix if I don't see it get better in 4 days
