I have two shrimp in my 51 gallon corner tank as well as 3 tangs and damsels. I also have a purple gregorian coral and everyone is healthy and doing well.
The cleaner shrimp and camel shrimp shed their skin on a regular basis about once every 3 weeks. I have been chasing the skins around every time I see that they have shed.
This may sound like a dumb question, but I was thinking of leaving them in the tank. The tangs seem to enjoy picking at them and I was thinking that as they degrade, they would put back some calcium in the water for the coral.
Good idea, or will they just rot and raise my ammonia/nitrate/nitrite levels???
