i purchased 3 silver dollars that were surrendered to the pet shop i work at, one of them is a species i have not yet seen before. i looked all over the internet and i cant find a single picture of anything that even resembles it. im not sure if it is a hybrid of some sort or just an uncommon species. any help would be greatly apreciated.

I agree it could be M. maculatus, but does it get orangey coloring when excited or scared? If so, it might be a M. Lippincottianus. I got 3 of them by accident when trying to replace my M. argenteus. An old fish keeper friend of mine told me the difference. They seem to be less skittish than my others.

it is not a spotted silver dollar. that is for sure. it does sometimes show more orange though. it must be a Lippincottianus. after looking at some pics, it has to be a cross of some sort. maybe M.m x M.Lippin
