I have just got 2 horned snails. When I got them home and settled in the tank I noticed that one of then has a slightly damaged shell.

Will it repair itself?

Will I need to add calcium to the water?

I know damage can happen because of water conditions, and my water is fine so it shouldn't get any worse.

So, any ideas please?

The snail will put down a calcium layer to cover the hole on the inside but it will still be on the outside. Nothing you can do about it besides make sure your waters clean and hard enough.

Thanks! It's a shame for the little fella! But he seems happy enough. He's munching his way through some algy!
