You know that whole process for fishless cycling? Add ammonia, test to see if the ammonia is removed within a day, etc?

I've used it for saltwater with success, but before I tried it again for freshwater, I wanted to make sure it would actually work. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, but maybe I'm wrong.

That's pretty much it, with a lot of waiting in between. Last step is dose back to ~4ppm ammonia and see if it is consumed within 24hrs. If it is, do a large water change and start stocking, slowly.

Awesome. I've had so much success with fishless cycling in my SW tank (after so many failures with other stuff) and would love to be able to use the same method for FW, but I'd never explicitly heard that it was OK for FW.
