So i just got a 55 gallon for some gar(they are being put in my pond when they are big enough/outgrow the 55) and i want to plant it. Can i use some kind of aquarium dirt without a cap? In my ten that's dirted i have a 1"gravel cap. Will it clear up if i don't use one? I have sand in it now, could i just mix it with the dirt and let it go? Will the plants float away or will the be fine? Thanks for any input.
