what is flashing

I'm just curious because several of my fish will turn on their side and rub agaisnt my substrate is this flashing and what is flashing a sign of?

That sounds like flashing. Flashing is typically a sign of illness. Look for ich or velvet.

Does this happen after a PWC? Or all te time?

A drastic swing in PH levels could also cause this.

Yea sometimes fish will flash after water changes...fish can also flash if there is ammonia present in the tank(ammonia burns). Look at your fish up close for tiny white specs on the body or fins/tail. If you see any, your fish has ich.
