This thread is intended to be a discussion with the community about some of the problems and potential solutions we can implement through our fish clubs and potentially grassroots movements (among other outlets) to help our planet's ecosystems that our tank inhabitants come from.

Discussion topics may include over-exploitation, habitat loss, sustainable use of resources that cause issues in these aquatic habitats, fishing laws and regulations, importing and exporting live animals, or anything else anyone may want to discuss that can help our beloved aquatic ecosystems.

This thread idea was sparked by a recent off-topic mini-discussion on Brennae's Fish Room Basement Thread. If you aren't already familiar with her thread, be sure to check it out!

Now, who wants to start the discussion?

Missed the earlier discussion...

Trying to make a point to buy tank bred creatures would be a first line action from a hobbyist point of view.

Join a local Aquarium Club and start to be active in things on a larger scale - more people, more power, to act and get the word out.

If you can be a successful breeder, your local clubs are usually a resource for endangered aqua critters.

You can use your talent to breed endangered fish and share them with other breeders. This is even fish which are extinct in the wild.
