Hi. I may be asking the impossible. He was purchased at lfs with 2 other hybrids (OB n blood dragon hybrid)... I've since found a breeder.. Anyway, can you tell what he is? Thanks!

It's hard to make out in those pictures because they are a little fuzzy and sideways but it does resemble some of the Protomelas species or one of the larger species of Aulonocara.

no exact matches, one quite close, I think you're right, he looks like some kind of aulonocara =)

He does, but has red on lower fins, he was all blue at first. We added 6 fish a couple days ago n he colored up w red n white along top fin. I'm hoping I have all males...

My guy has red fins too, also a white crest

You're right that is him. Do you know what he is? When we went to the breeder told him we already had a blue one. He said the chyrysononus (sp?) hap we purchased is different fish and told us ours is more common. He knew the colors it would have but didnt know what it was..

I was told he is a "red fin nyassae".
