You didn't need to rinse the sand? What brand is it, I used lighthouse and it took me hours to wash.
 
Im not sure what brand I was I'll have to look at my extra bag. It made the water a little cloudy but it cleared up by the end of the day.
 
They are all little guys right now 3-4" they are fairly slow growers, I'm hoping a bigger tank will help boost their growth.

It also takes longer for the hormone that they give off that limits growth to build up.
