I just got an existing sump setup and was wondering about how it was put together.

Basically, in order to get it apart and off the tank and sump, we had to cut the pvc at several places. In order to put it back together, I'll have to use couplers or replace several parts. Is there a way to make the connections easily disconnected or do I have to cut and couple every time I want to move it? I essentially have to replace all of the existing piping already, even a bulkhead.

Also, will 1 inch pvc be sufficient for a 55 gallon setup and about a 25 gallon sump?

Thanks for any help.

should be fine...
i'm assuming you're running a wet dry...make sure your return to the tank is overflowing out of the tank itself (shooting out through the pipe) or that you put an elbow on the pvc. how strong is the pump anyhow?
