DI resin question

When you change out the resin do I need to run a certain amount of water through it?

I would toss the first couple of gallons just to be safe. Won't hurt anything. I do know you rinse the first stages wo the membrane then the membrane wo the di to flush out any preservative to save some of your di like 5 percent they say.after all that yes flush out your di.

Thanks I'm going to pick some up on the way home and see where my TDS goes from here. Right now I think I'm at 5. Considering my water is over 125 I feel pretty good, but I'd like to get it down to 0 as most here have. It was also ne'er filled with the proper amount. I got it for free so for a 6 stage RO I'm not gonna complain!!!
