Evap. Compensation

So I'm usually pretty on top of making sure my freshwater tanks are always filled to the top. If I wanted to add water to my saltwater tank to top it off how should I go about doing this? I know the evaporation leaves the salt behind so if I added saltwater would my salinity go way up? Or should I top it off with freshwater?

you always top off with fresh water with no salt added to it

Make sure you are topping it off with RO/DI water
