So I thought it be neat if all shared our own mistakes that we learned from.

Mine just happened recently. For ever I have been battling brown algae, no matter how little I fed or light I gave it kept coming back. Then I found out the tap water I de-clorinized for top offs was the cause of my pain. So I bought a jug of the rodi water from my lfs. That was my learning moment.
So what are your guys mistakes you have learned from?

Using distilled water after I got married when I gave up the use of my kitchen for things other than making ro/di water. I lost a lot of corals to the algae that I battled.

I'm feeling the pain here with that myself. Moved away from my absolutely wonderful tap water into a new city and have been having algae problems ever since. It's time for me to invest in a rodi filter myself.

Not considering that some SW fish are jumpers and not putting my net on top of the tank. Lost two of my long time fish that way.
