live sand color Bad? Yes or no.

Ok my LS has turned a deep yellow color is there something wrong is it now dead sand? these questions and many more on the next episode of what have i gotten myself into.

Is it just on the sand surface or top to bottom? Sounds like it could be the onset of diatom algae, although a bit early considering you just started cycling the tank. What kind of lights do you have? If you could post a pic it would help.

I believe is diatom. or some algae from the sand itself.

half my sand is dead now and it looks blackish. But now its turning yellow 2

The lights i use are 100% sun.

2 week cycling (and one comple drain due to overflow leaks)

just the top is turning dark yellow I will post a pic as soon as i get batteries for my digital camera but i dont feel it could be an algae already it is mostly around the area where my dead shrimp was and the cycle of that tank is just about over looking at a week and it will be in commision
