alright, i just took all my rummy nose out of our 55 gallon QT. all that's left in there are 4 (at least i believe there are 4) otocinclus. since the load of fish on this tank is so small (it already was), does this mean that i could lose the cycle because of insufficient ammonia production?

It is a definate possibility. You will need some more bio load and soon. It's amazing how fast a cycle can die off. That's a mighty big QT tank. Why not turn it into a community tank?

well we plan on it, that's why we're keeping the otos in there for now. we just wanted it to grow plants and QT fish, but i also have a 10 gallon tank that's still not cycled (i've been procrastinating hard!) but you're right, we may have to get some new fish soon! that's what i figured...even when we had those 7 rummy nose in there, that was still a small load
