Kinda cool looking and not a bad price, but if you have HOB filters how do you get around the intake tube?

I had that problem. I had to get a canister filter and put the intake over the side. I also had to make a custom top.

They have thinner versions (less than 1 inch) and you might be able to use that with a HOB filter.

Alternatively, You can bring the background forward a little, drill holes in it in a few spots, and put the filter intake behind the background. I did that on a 75 gallon once and it worked well.
 
I recently switched out my rock image background with a dark blue fade (wanted solid blue, but nothing locally) and it has made all the difference in the world!!
 
I love the physical in tank backgrounds. Feel they really are the way to go for a decent sized tank atleast. Look a whole lot more natural than a black coat of paint or a picture.

I'm thinking about a DIY physical background project on my 55 gal mbuna tank.

With a bowed rock cover for my filters, air tubes, and heater.
