You probably won't care but I'd like to share my tank history and story. I had a 55 gallon for 10 months. A variety of fish. I bought them and sold them then bought others. I needed space so I sold the tank and got a small 10 gallon. I started the 'professional' planted tank hobby. The tank was immediately cycled as I put some of my established filter media in the new filter. I bought and mixed different substrates. I kept some of my plants from the 55 gallon. I'm starting to dose the tank with liquid co2. I plan to buy fertilizers later on. I went to Petco to find a light (I don't usually go there, I just couldn't find any cheap ones). I went to see the fish a lot of them seemed kind of stressed especially the Bettas. So sad to see the poor Bettas suffering. Many of them dead. One seemed very stressed especially. He was on his side with a bloated stomach. Oooooohhhhhh the pity! I did not plan on buying any fish soon so I rescued him from Petco. One of the customer service guys told me they need at least 1/4 gallon bowl. I felt like scratching his face off. Tearing every inch of skin, cartilage, hair(just kidding  ) He costed $15. I named him Pisces (first time in a long time I named my fish). He is a Halfmoon Betta. I acclimated him for 30 minutes (I don't know if you are supposed to acclimate betas but I just did it anyway.) He was on his side I safely put him into the tank with the filter on a weak current. I turned off the lights on the tank, kept the room lights very dim. He was still on his side and struggling to swim. I didn't know if he'd make it! I tried feeding him a pea but he showed no interest. A couple hours later he was exploring the tank. Although he had a bit of a struggle swimming down. It's the second day he is a picky eater. He only likes the aqueon Betta pellets and the new life spectrum pellets. He looks absolutely gorgeous. I tried taking good pictures of him but he hides under the plants. Only managed to get a far away shot showing off his fins. I saw him once flaring at his reflection but that should be normal. He hides very time I put my hand close on the tank glass. That should be normal especially if it's only his second day. He spends his time exploring the tank going into all the nooks and crannies. He seems very happy. :) But does he look healthy to you? Don't notice any odd behaviour in him. Just trying to be safe. It's been a while since I kept a betta. The last time I kept one was with turtles. I was very naive back then but he lived peacefully with them. They even slept with each other next to the heater it was so cute. Unfortunately he died from a heater burn. Stupid me! I should've gotten a heater guard. :( R.I.P. Gill.
