Dwarf Puffers

I know they need plants and caves, but is there anything else environmentally I should be aware they need? Also, is a sand or gravel substrate better for them?

you need a good steady food supply, blood worms and pond snails...I would actually recommend another tank to raise snails. They can be kept with mult puffs in a tank of suitable size, if they are unhappy, tehy will starve themselves and waste away.
