Do some research on the internet. Plenty of info out there. Aqadvisor.com is a good tool for stocking limits.

Shrimp are generally a good idea for small tanks, but they tend to be very sensitive to nitrates. So you'll want to do weekly 50% water changes.

+1 Research is the key to anything in this hobby. And quite a bit of it.

I agree also with shrimp being a great idea for a small tank. As stated they are very delicate and require a good amount of care. They also do better in a mature tank as opposed to a newly created environment.

Just another snail idea also is a mystery snail , variety Inca Gold , petco usually has them as well as the netries. If you get just one and it lays eggs just take them out. And I agree about an established tank for the shrimp. and lots of little hiding places, decor, java moss, plants real, silk or plastic depending on what you wants. Sounds like a fun project. I just bought a flame honey gourami one week ago today and what a neat fish. mine is orange and siver but they come in yellow as well. He lives in a 10 gal with 5 harlequin rasboras and one julli cat and one netrite snail. I plan to get 2 more cats. By the way the petco store here have a 30 day money back policy. Alison:):fish2:

FYI all Cories , apart from three pygmy species , are recommended for tanks at least 20Long as they need groups of 6 or more. 10G are only used as breeding tanks, temporary and no other fish.

So Aliray having Cories that hit 2" in your 10g is not a good long term idea and adding two more will cause overstocking and probably death.

Also almost all "C julii" are actually C trilineatus. Mislabled constantly.

So do you think it would be a good idea to have to guppies in the tank first and let them get the tank well established then add the shrimp

You need to cycle the tank first. I would do one guppy in with a bunch of shrimp after cycling for two to three months then add the rest of the fish.
