Silver Dollars in 55+ gallon (freshwater)

I keep hearing different things and want to get everyone's opinion. I really like the silver dollars. I have only gone to one aquarium supply store here and 3 different employees told me 3 different things. Do you think my 55+ gallon aquarium is big enough for a few silver dollars? I just don't want to put myself in a situation where the fish get too big. (When I first started I REALLY wanted Bala Sharks - but after researching, they get too big.)
