OK, I don’t know what’s up with my other female convict. When I first got them, I thought that they were the pair, but they are both female. The actual male female pair are no longer as aggressive with the defense of their fry, but the male still chases the other female away. The paired female does not chase the other female away. Actually, they swim around together and the smaller female looks like it is trying to court with the larger. Before, when the larger female was excavating her nest the smaller one would go right in there with her, and now they seem to be doing it again.
