I have false rock in my tank and I have noticed a yellow growth forming all over it can anybody help with what it might be please?

Can you post a picture? Is the tank newly set up (in about the past 3 months)? If so does it just rub off with your finger? Is it really yellow or yellowish turning to brown? If it is it sounds like it could be diatoms. Diatoms are common in new tanks and are mostly caused by excess silicates in the water. They are unsightly but will go away in time. If you don't have a planted tank you can add some phosphate remover to your filter. Phosphate remover also removes silicates from the water which will help clear the diatoms up.
