Attaching a coral frag to LR

Ok. I got a finger leather frag last weekend and the thing keeps comming loose on me.

I heard you can use "GEL" superblue to attache the coral frag to a rock.

Well I went out to wal-mart and I got some of this stuff I think its the wal-mart brand as it says "Mainstays Projects" on it and that usualy implys wal-mart brand.

The product is called GEL SUPER GLUE So I figure this is the correct stuff.

If anyone can provide assistance on how to use this or even if its the correct item.

I kinda depends on the leather but it has been my experience that leathers slime an aweful lot. If it has attached to a piece of rubble already just glue the rubble to a rock. If it's a fresh frag I use a plastic toothpick. I shove the toothpick deep into the frag, break off the toothpick so their's just 1/4" left sticking out. Then I glue the toothpick to a rock.

The best bet on glueing is to pull the rock out of the water and pat it dry with a paper towel, then apply super glue gel liberally. If you can't take the rock out of the water apply the glue liberally to the frag and quickly attach it to the rock. A shell will form immediately over the glue once you submerge it so apply sufficient pressure to break the shell when attaching it to the rock.

Finger leather will stick with super glue gel. At least my brown one does. This one didn't bleed (slime) much. I do the gluing outside the tank. Pat the rock dry, pat the wound dry and apply the glue to the rock. Hold firmly for 15 seconds and put back in the water.

I have some green tree that no glue will hold. It holds for a couple days then the coral retracts (rejects) and comes loose. I found a rubber band wound firmly, not tight, just enough to hold the frag to the rock in the desired position works good. They attach in a couple weeks with this method.

I do stonies with underwater epoxy. Again, I do the gluing outside the tank. I have done acropora by simply laying a small frag in a rock crevice. It is dense enough that it doesn't blow away. It attached in a couple weeks also. The fragged piece (a finger like projection) has since broken off (by accident ) but a half dollar size patch of polyp covered coral remains on the rock. Pretty cool.

This is my first frag that I had to attach to something so I hope it sticks. I got a red shroom that is loose also but I dont think i should glue it as I know they like to move around and gluing it would not allow it to move, correct?

I hope I can get some decent pics of my new corals soon. BUt i would really like to see that Anemoneman was talking about.

the leather looks healthy one day after glueing and is bumpy. I am assuming the bumps are polyps or something.
