sump rock

ok so I am upgrading my sump and adding an area for rubble and I plan on adding about 20 lbs of rock from: http://www.reeferrocks.com/ornamentals/fragplugs.htm
It is not "alive" so do I need to cycle it with a piece of live rock to make it live or can I just add it to my sump after rinsing?

I use Tufa Rock in my sump. it's cheap and light and holey and you can buy lots of it because it's so cheap...
