haha I have a snail tank as well. i only have the one DP though . I am getting 4 otos for him and I could try to get himn a buddy but they say that they get aggressive and territorial when they get older

do you guys know if bacteria growth is visible either in the tank or on the filter media?

I know bio-wheels turn brown after they are... filled with bacteria. I'm unsure whether this is the actual bacteria or if it is a byproduct of running tankwater through it. I'd imagine that brown "mulm" might be decomposing organics along with the bacteria, but I'm not sure.
