Well... My new sexy shrimp didn't last long.
I have two 1.5 inch common clowns,
2 cleaner shrimp
5 blue hermits
There has been a double murder :-(

Interesting. Have you come up with a definitive answer since originally posting? I just had a clownfish entirely disappear from my tank, and he was the only fish IN the tank! Plus a smallish hermit crab, 2 other small crabs, and a couple of snails. He didn't jump into the filter or out of the tank, and there are no remains to be found. He was there this morning, so somebody did a quick and thorough number on him. Would/could a hermit crab attack, kill and fully eat a clownfish in a day?

If you haven't done a water change I would test for source of ammonia (from your fish in the tank decomposing). Possible that it leaped to its death? I have had fish somehow jump out of small openings, others that totally ignored open top tanks.

I've done a wc since they went missing, two shrimp jumping out of a closed lid? I don't think that happened. Thanks though
