Popeye? betta

I wish I was at home so i could take a pic...I will do so when i get home. My male betta, his eyes "slightly" protrude. Before, i really didn't compare him to anything, but now i have a female betta. Her eyes are completely flat, in their sockets. But my male's eyes, if u look at him from the top, or directly at him as if he was swimming towards you, his eyes come out slightly.

They are both the same size, but it's like he's wearing glasses or has an extra lens? Is this normal or does he have a case of popeye coming up? Water params are fine, usually 0, with the occasional 0-0.25 if i fed sloppily...nitrites are 0, and trates are usually 5-10.

I guess what I'm asking, is if male bettas sometimes have eyes that slightly stick out of their sockets. I will get a pic later today.

I think a picture would help a lot. It is possible to have pop eye in both eyes. Sounds like the water params are in line.

yeah..a pic is much better...

i did show to my bro-in-law, whom has a lot of fish (mainly chiclids though), and he thinks the fish is just growing and that their eyes usually grow first.

i'll get a pic up tonight.

From what I've heard, popeye is usually uneven. Maybe just keep an eye on him (no pun intended, lol) until someone else can chime in.

I'm not positive since I have no idea what pop eye looks like but my male betta Izumi's eyes don't lie flat to his head and he's always looked that way since I got him back in February. To me your little guys eyes just look large for his head but I wouldn't say he looks unhealthy.

Hey Homedog, I'm glad you chimed in. I was hoping you would being the Betta specialist that you are.
His eyes looked normal to me but I know Cichlids better than Betta's.

Looks good to me as well. Popeye is usually cloudy and swollen looking. Nothing wrong with double checking though!
